Evan Almighty

A few years ago I saw Bruce Almighty and was mostly unimpressed. I thought some parts were funny, but overall Jim Carrey came across as a jerk. Of course, Morgan Freeman made the movie what it was. He is almost always a man of total class and style.

So when Evan Almighty came out, I was skeptical about seeing it, especially because Steve Carrel can be such a weirdo. However, I was fairly impressed. I thought Steve Carrel did an awesome job. Even in scenes where I might have tried to be seriously unimpressed and unamused, I found Carrel amusing.

One of the best parts of the movie was the animals in general. There were so many different types of animals and they had some of them doing such cool things. The ones I liked best were the baboons. As stated earlier on this blog page, baboons scare the crap out of me. The baboons in the movie were entrepreneurial, taking some ark matters into their own hands. Amusing. Also, the animal trainers got them to drink out of glass mugs. I'm partially ashamed that I thought that was hilarious. Only partially.

The best thing overall was the message that God gives us opportunities to make our lives better. I have always believed that God does little to control what happens on earth nowadays, but I have also always believed that God gives us help through certain points in our lives by giving us opportunities to better ourselves.

I enjoyed this movie much more than I thought I could, and I support the message whole-heartedly.
